John’s Story
My name is John Wills. I’m a third-generation painter. My grandfather painted, my father painted, and I’ve been painting since I was old enough to hold a brush. I was born and raised in Connecticut, and I’ve spent my entire career working on homes in the communities I grew up in.
I founded John Wills Painting & Power Washing Co., LLC in 1988. From the very beginning, the reputation I built was based on two things: superior craftsmanship and honest, competitive pricing. I’ve never believed in upselling people on work their home doesn’t need, and I’ve never cut corners to get a job done faster. That approach has given me a customer base built almost entirely on repeat business and referrals. And that’s the endorsement I’m most proud of.
I treat every customer the way I’d want to be treated as a neighbor. Because in most cases, that’s exactly what they are.

I’ve been painting homes in this specific area for over 35 years. I know the climate, the architectural styles, the prep requirements, and the products that hold up against coastal New England conditions. That’s knowledge you can’t get from a franchise or a company that moved here last year.

Anyone can put paint on a wall. The difference is what happens first. My crew washes, scrapes, sands, caulks, and primes every surface before we open a can. It takes longer. It’s worth it.

I use Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore exclusively. Proven to hold up on Shoreline homes. All cleaning soaps and chemicals are biodegradable. I use quality, environmentally responsible materials on every job.

I’ve been sponsoring youth baseball in Killingworth for years. Local sports leagues depend on local businesses to survive, and I’m glad to help keep kids in the game.
Haddam-Killingworth Youth Football League
The HK Youth Football League serves kids across Haddam and Killingworth. It’s the kind of program that makes a town worth living in.
The Cove Center for Grieving Children
The Cove provides free grief support for children, teens, and families across Connecticut. Quiet work that matters enormously to the families it serves. I’m glad to support it.
