Interior Painting in Killingworth, CT
Killingworth is home base for me, and I’ve been painting homes here since 1988. When you call me for interior work on walls, ceilings, trim, and cabinets, you’re not getting a crew driving in from a bigger town. You’re getting a neighbor. My crew and I handle everything from a single-room refresh to a full repaint, and we do the prep that makes paint last in these older houses. Estimates are free, and I’m usually just a few minutes away.

The Painting Company Down the Road
Killingworth doesn’t really have a downtown. We’ve got Parmelee Farm, Chatfield Hollow, the schools, and a lot of wooded road between houses. My business has been based here for decades. When I give you an estimate, I’m not mapping the drive. I already know your road. Odds are I’ve painted a house or two on it, or the one behind it.
Most of the homes here sit on two acres or more, and they run the gamut: eighteenth-century colonials with plaster walls, capes from the fifties and sixties, and newer builds off Route 81 and Route 80. Each one paints differently. Old plaster needs patching and the right primer, or the finish coat telegraphs every flaw. Newer drywall has its own quirks. After thirty-plus years in these houses, I know what I’m walking into before I open the can.
My company sponsors Killingworth Youth Baseball and Haddam-Killingworth Youth Football, so there’s a decent chance you’ve seen our name on a jersey or a banner before you ever saw our truck. That keeps me honest. When your kids play with my customers’ kids and you run into people at the transfer station on Saturday, you don’t cut corners on their walls. Most of my work here comes from referrals, and I intend to keep it that way.

What Killingworth Homeowners Call Us For
Whole-Home Repaints
When a house hasn’t been painted in ten or fifteen years, we work through it room by room so your family can keep living there. Walls, ceilings, trim: the whole house feeling fresh again by the time we pack up.
Kitchen Cabinet Painting
Cabinets take more abuse than any wall in the house. We clean, sand, prime, and spray them properly, because I know what happens when somebody skips a step to save a day.
Trim & Woodwork Refresh
A lot of older Killingworth homes have good bones and tired trim. Fresh paint on baseboards, casings, and crown sharpens the whole house without touching a wall. It’s the fastest way to make old woodwork look cared for.
Bonus Rooms & Finished Spaces
Plenty of houses in town have a room over the garage or a finished basement that never got a proper paint job. We prime fresh drywall right and finish it so it feels like part of the house.
Killingworth Questions, Answered
My house is an older colonial with plaster walls. Can you work with that?
Yes. A good share of my work here is in older plaster homes. Plaster needs different prep than drywall: patching cracks properly, skim-coating rough spots, and using the right primer so the finish doesn’t flash. Rushing that part is where most plaster jobs go wrong. For pre-1978 homes we plan the prep carefully before any sanding starts.
How does an estimate work if I’m in Killingworth?
Simple: call me at 860-663-8025 and we’ll set a time. Since I’m based in town, I can usually swing by within a few days. I walk the rooms with you, look at the surfaces, and give you a written estimate. No charge, no pressure to decide on the spot.
What will it cost to paint the inside of my house?
It depends on the surfaces, honestly. A room with sound walls paints fast; one with cracked plaster, water stains, or lots of woodwork takes real prep time, and prep is most of the labor. Ceiling height and number of colors matter too. I’ll walk you through it at the free estimate.
We heat with a wood stove and keep the house closed up in winter. Can you still paint then?
No problem. Winter is actually a good season for interior work in town. I use Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore low-VOC and zero-VOC paints, so you don’t need every window open in January. We ventilate rooms as we go, and most families stay comfortable in the rest of the house while we work.
Besides Killingworth, I also paint interiors in Clinton, Madison, and Haddam. See the full service area, or everything we do on the interior painting page.
