Interior Painting in Westbrook, CT
Westbrook is about fifteen minutes from my door, and I’ve been painting shoreline homes since 1988. Beach cottages off the Grove Beach and West Beach associations, capes near the center of town, year-round houses that live with salt air and damp winters. I know what their interiors need. My crew and I keep it simple: honest prep, good paint, clean work, and rooms that look bright and stay that way.

Painting Westbrook’s Cottages and Year-Round Homes
Westbrook sits between Clinton and Old Saybrook, and I’ve been working here about as long as I’ve been in business. It’s a town of beach associations like Grove Beach, Middle Beach, and West Beach, working marinas, and a little center you can walk end to end. Some houses are lived in all year. Plenty get closed up in October and opened again in May. I’ve painted both kinds, and they ask for different things.
The older capes and cottages here weren’t built tight. Salt air and humidity find their way inside, and near the water you can see it: paint peeling in a bathroom, ceilings gone dull, trim that won’t hold a finish. That’s a prep problem before it’s ever a paint problem. We take the time to fix what’s underneath, prime it right, and use Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore paints that stand up to damp coastal rooms.
Most of my work comes from repeat customers and referrals: somebody sees what we did at a neighbor’s place and calls. That’s been true since 1988. I’m based just up the road in Killingworth, so Westbrook is the same shoreline we live and work on every day. We sponsor the youth baseball and football leagues back home in Killingworth and Haddam, and we treat every job like the next referral depends on it, because it does.

What Westbrook Homeowners Call Us For
Cottage Refresh Before Summer
Opening a seasonal place in spring is the right time to repaint. We work while the house is empty, air it out, and have it bright and clean before Memorial Day weekend.
Kitchen and Bath Repaints
Kitchens and baths take the worst of shoreline humidity. We fix peeling, prime bare spots, and use scrubbable, mildew-resistant finishes so the room holds up to steam and salt air.
Brightening Small Rooms
Beach cottages run small and low. The right warm white on walls and ceiling, with crisp trim, bounces the light around and makes a tight room feel open.
Year-Round Home Interiors
Whole-house repaints for capes and colonials lived in all year. Careful plaster and drywall repair, low-VOC Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore paints, and a crew that works clean around your family.
Westbrook Questions, Answered
What kind of paint holds up inside a beach cottage?
The paint matters less than what’s under it. We dry things out, spot-prime any water-marked or bare areas, then use Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore products made for damp rooms: mildew-resistant in baths, scrubbable elsewhere. Skip that prep and the best paint on the shelf will peel by next summer.
Can you paint our seasonal house before we open it for the summer?
Yes. That’s some of my favorite work. An empty cottage is the easiest job there is: no furniture shuffle, no living around wet paint. Call me in late winter or early spring, we’ll get in while you’re away, and it’ll be aired out and ready when you arrive.
Our cottage rooms are small and dark. Can paint fix that?
It helps more than people expect. A warm white carried across the walls and ceiling, trim done crisp, and the room holds every bit of light it gets. I’ll bring samples and we’ll try a few on your actual walls, because shoreline light changes how a color reads.
What drives the cost of an interior job in Westbrook?
Condition and scope more than anything: how much prep the walls need, plaster repair in older capes, moisture damage near the water, ceiling height, and how much trim there is. Cottage or colonial, I’d rather see it than guess over the phone. The written estimate is free.
Besides Westbrook, I also paint interiors in Clinton, Old Saybrook, and Essex. See the full service area, or everything we do on the interior painting page.
